Landlords love to use the phrase move-in ready. Here is what you should actually expect when you pick up the keys to your new home.
Decoding Landlord Jargon
You see the phrase plastered across rental ads everywhere: Move-In Ready! But what does that actually guarantee you as a renter?
The Bare Minimum
Legally, a home must meet the "implied warranty of habitability." This means the roof doesn't leak, there is running hot water, the heat works, and the doors lock. But "habitable" is very different from comfortable.
The Hasker Standard
When Hasker & Co. says a property is Move-In Ready, we mean you can unpack your boxes on day one without lifting a paintbrush or a wrench.
- All appliances are tested and functioning.
- The home has been professionally deep-cleaned.
- Fresh paint and spotless flooring.
- No lingering maintenance requests.
We believe comfortable living should be within your budget. When we hand you the keys, your only job should be making it feel like home.
